The following update was sent by Greg to the Las Vegas Ultimate Yahoo email group. This Twitter account will be the way to get the latest pickup updates on the web or on your cell phone by SMS. See the details below:
The SMS tree is a good idea. We had better turn out when Air Bud, Megan etc were doing the baby sitting and texting every week. So I guess maybe we should start again.
To facilitate the SMS tree, I’ve created a twitter account “lvulti”. If you wish to get txt announcement about las vegas ulti, mainly pickup etc please:
1. Create a twitter account
2. Go to Settings -> Mobile and input your phone number
3. Follow @lvulti
4. Turn on mobile updates from lvulti
5. Wait by your phone anxiously for the first update… remember to breath!
If you want off the list, login to twitter and turn off the mobile updates from lvulti and voila no more messages.
Usage. This list will be used to facilitate pick announcements. I don’t see it being used for anything else at the moment.
This way we don’t need a central phone list, and multiple people don’t have to keep their SMS groups up to date and sorted out or risk missing someone. Not that I think hat having a central list would be a bad idea. I will give the uid and password to a few people who can then be responsible for broadcasting to everyone.
Any thoughts? Better ideas?
I didn’t see an easy way to do this with Yahoo. Sorry. I know this means getting yet another account and joining the tweet legion.
